Once again we were commissioned by Smart Group to install and execute the balloon drops for Hospitality Rock 2024. The brief was to use bright bold colours to tie in with their Carnival Theme.
I have worked with Smart Live on numerous events and their attention to detail is exceptional. They are a delight to work for and go all out to make sure everything is in place so that your part of the job can be installed without hassel.
I know 3 balloon drops does not sound a lot and all nets were filled with Gemar 19″ balloons with in a few hours of arrival. It’s the rigging that takes time and running the drop lines. The venue has a ceiling height on about 45ft so scissor lifts were on hand. It was the first time I had used a scissor lift on my own since passing my IPAF licence back in January 2023 but it paid off. It took about 3 hours to rig.
The job would not of been possible without the help of David Saker of balloon.co.uk. David and myself have work on may balloon drops and we understand what has to be done. Once the nets were in place we had to run the drop lines to the balcony. We finished the installation at about 6pm with the event going live at 6.30pm. The drops were to be activated at about 8pm for the start of the event.
Both David and Myself understand the pressure you are under when doing balloon drops. It’s hard to explain the feeling you get moments prior to pulling the cords. Between to 2 of us we have done thousands of drops. The feeling never dies
We had one job to do and we nailed it
Time to go home
